Design & Functionality
The SDX optical level switch works using a prism-based infrared sensing method. An infrared emitter sends light into the sensor tip. When the probe is in air, the light reflects back to the receiver through total internal reflection. When liquid surrounds the prism, the light refracts into the liquid, reducing the reflected signal. The receiver detects this change and activates the switching output accordingly.
This detection principle ensures accurate and stable liquid presence monitoring without mechanical components, significantly reducing maintenance and improving reliability.
Total Crossed Beams
The sensor uses an integrated infrared emitter and receiver arrangement that creates a stable optical detection path inside the prism tip. This configuration enables accurate detection of liquid presence even in compact installations. The optical beam path ensures consistent switching performance while minimizing false detection.
Beam Pitch Options
The sensor design supports optimized beam interaction within the optical prism tip to ensure reliable signal transmission. This configuration allows the sensor to operate effectively across a wide range of liquids including water, oils, coolants, and process fluids.
The optimized beam structure ensures stable operation even when installed in narrow tanks or pipelines where space is limited.
Intrinsic Synchronism
The optical emitter and receiver operate with synchronized signal detection, ensuring that the sensor accurately identifies changes in the surrounding medium. This intrinsic synchronization reduces interference from environmental light and enhances measurement stability in industrial environments.
Operational Advantages
The SDX Optical Level Switch offers multiple advantages for industrial automation and liquid level control systems. Its compact design allows installation in tight equipment spaces, while the absence of moving parts eliminates mechanical wear and reduces maintenance requirements.
The sensor is widely used in applications such as pump protection, tank level monitoring, cooling systems, and automated liquid handling equipment. With reliable switching performance and durable construction, it provides long-term operational stability in demanding industrial conditions.
