Design & Functionality
The flow switch operates using two temperature sensors positioned within the probe. One sensor is heated while the other measures the surrounding liquid temperature. When fluid flows through the pipeline, the moving liquid cools the heated sensor. The temperature difference between the two sensors changes proportionally to the flow velocity.
This temperature differential allows the device to detect whether the liquid flow exceeds or falls below the configured set point. Once the threshold is reached, the switch activates the output signal to control pumps, alarms, or process systems.
Because the sensor structure has no moving components, the device delivers excellent durability, making it suitable for continuous industrial operation.
Total Crossed Beams
The thermal sensing probe integrates dual precision temperature elements designed to measure heat dispersion within the flowing liquid. This dual-sensor configuration ensures stable flow detection even in systems with fluctuating pressure or varying flow conditions.
The sensor design also allows operation in liquids containing small particles or impurities without mechanical obstruction.
Beam Pitch Options
Different insertion lengths and mounting configurations are available to match pipeline diameter and installation requirements. This flexibility allows the flow sensing rod to be customized for different pipe sizes and process layouts, ensuring accurate measurement across multiple industrial applications.
Intrinsic Synchronism
Thermal dispersion technology ensures consistent sensing performance by maintaining stable heat output from the heating element. The system continuously compares temperature signals between the heated and reference sensors, enabling synchronized and precise flow detection even under varying operating conditions.
Operational Advantages
Industrial operators benefit from reliable flow monitoring that improves equipment safety and process control. The SPX flow switch helps prevent pump damage caused by insufficient coolant flow, ensures proper circulation in cooling pipelines, and supports automation in process control systems.
Its robust stainless-steel construction and IP-rated protection allow use in demanding industrial environments including petrochemical plants, power stations, steel manufacturing facilities, and pharmaceutical production lines.
